05 The Perfect Gift

Helping to re-shape and re-launch a fallen star is one of the great challenges in creative communications. It’s not often you get the opportunity to board a ship and work with a team with buckets of enthusiasm and an endless desire to turn things around and re-create some magic.

We were approached by The Wedding Shop in 2015, a brand with a 25-year heritage seeking a large dose of PR power to support a full brand makeover and host of new services. With showrooms in Chelsea and Dublin, and the official gift list provider to Selfridges, the business had much to offer. The company had recently been taken over by a previously-minority shareholder with vision, ambition, dazzling business credentials and an unparalleled commitment to ethical trading standards.

The new owners had injected a breath of fresh air and much optimism into the business, so our job was to communicate this publicly and ensure that The Wedding Shop take their seat at the top table of gift lift providers, where they rightly belong. We embarked on an intensive period of media sessions to educate and update the press, working through a detailed media strategy and alongside a carefully devised advertising plan.

Regular and consistent coverage achieved in leading titles Brides, You & Your Wedding, Hitched.co.uk, Absolutely Weddings, Perfect Wedding, Squaremeal Weddings, and a whole collection of regional magazines is complemented by exposure across all of the major UK wedding blogs and a number of national and lifestyle titles. It’s hard to now find a title that does not feature products from The Wedding Shop or expert profiling with top tips from their team. SBPR also negotiated rights with leading UK wedding blog Rock My Wedding to become the sole, exclusive gift list partner.

A stunning new website was launched in 2016, signalling the completion of the brand’s transformation. With registration up by an impressive 400% and a booming social media presence managed by the digital team at SBPR, the future looks very bright for this ambitious company.
