The Great Gift List Debate

02 The Great Gift List Debate

How much do people really think they should spend on wedding gifts? Is it wrong to spend more on your best friend than your partner’s sister? Do guests like being told what to buy or would they rather go off-piste and buy something unique?

Working with our client, leading wedding gift list company The Wedding Shop, we devised a consumer survey designed to uncover the attitudes of the UK public towards wedding gifts. It’s a subject that can be the cause of much confusion and in some cases controversy among couples, so we wanted to understand what people really felt.

The 33-question survey was rolled out to 2,000 people nationally, with the findings and results scribed into a press release distributed to the mainstream national media. On the bridal side, we secured an exclusive print and online editorial agreement with You & Your Wedding with a selection of the results locked into embargo until the release of their full-page bespoke infographic.

The PR activity delivered a huge wave of coverage, with editorial appearing on Grazia and Marie-Claire online, as well as The Sun, The Daily Star, The New Day and Western Daily Press in print, across 15 regional bridal titles and 45 regional online news sites. On the day of the release being distributed, The Wedding Shop’s Managing Director was also interviewed on radio to discuss the results – that’s what we call PR power!
